Abia Governor Vows Justice for Slain Soldiers, Assures Support for Their Families by Ali: 06-02-2024, 01:24 PM
Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, visited the widows of soldiers killed in Aba during a sit-at-home protest organized by the Indigenous People of Biafra. The tragic incident occurred on Thursday, leaving several families in mourning.

During his visit to the 144 Battalion Headquarters of the Nigerian Army in Asa, Ukwa West Local Government Area, Governor Otti expressed his deep condolences. "Let me start by sending out words of sympathy to the Nigerian Army, the Brigade Commander himself, and most importantly the families of the five fallen heroes," Otti stated.

Condemning the killings, he labeled the act as "very sad" and perpetrated by criminals aiming to destabilize the state. "We, as a government, will continue to condemn this dastardly act, a very irresponsible act committed by criminals who do not want any good for society," he added.

To support the bereaved families, Governor Otti announced automatic scholarships for the deceased soldiers' children up to the university level. He also promised to legalize the scholarship program through the state House of Assembly to ensure its continuity under future administrations.

Do you believe the governor's response will help bring stability and justice to Abia State? Share your thoughts!
